
On July 25, 1975 A CHORUS LINE opened at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway. Conceived and Originally Directed and Choreographed by Michael Bennett with a Book by James Kirkwood & Nicholas Dante, Music by Marvin Hamlisch, Lyrics by Edward Kleban and Co-Choreographed by Bob Avian, A CHORUS LINE was an unprecedented box office and critical hit. The musical received twelve Tony Award nominations and won nine, in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. When the original production of A CHORUS LINE closed 15 years later on April 18th 1990 it was the longest-running show in Broadway history!
