New York, NY — On May 4th, 2015 The American Cancer Society celebrated Marvin Hamlisch featuring music from his Score for “SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS” (Broadway Musical, 2002.) The organizers gathered a wonderful ensemble of performers. The event, titled A Spring Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch, took place at the Hudson Theatre.
American Cancer Society’s Marvin Hamlisch Benefit on May 4th! Several Broadway stars gave an enthralling concert performance of “Sweet Smell of Success”, Marvin Hamlisch (music), Craig Carnelia (lyrics), and John Guare (book)
The cast included Marc Kudisch (Hand to God) as J.J. Hunsecker and Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) as Sidney Falcone as well as Adam Jacobs (Aladdin) as Dallas, Lindsay Mendez (Wicked) as Rita, Marissa McGowan (A Little Night Music) as Susan, Bernard Dotson (Sweet Smell of Success — Original Cast), Steven Brinberg, Peter Dugan, and Charles Yang. The ensemble will feature Craig Blake, Dionne Figgins, Matt Gibson, Justin Henry, Reed Kelly, Amanda Kloots, Ryan Steer, Mindy Wallace, Chryssie Whitehead, Ryan Worsing, and Sam Zack.
The performance was directed by John Simpkins with musical direction by J. Ernest Green, Choreography by Emmy Winner Tyce Diorio, stage management by Tony Award Winner Peter Lawrence and sound by Bob Rendon.

Charles Yang: Described by the Boston Globe as one who “plays classical violin with the charisma of a rock star.” Juilliard graduate Charles Yang has performed in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Forbidden City in Beijing. On June 9th of 2005, the Mayor of Austin presented Mr. Yang with his own “Charles Yang Day”.

Peter Dugan: Performs as a classical, jazz, and crossover pianist throughout the United States and abroad. Recent appearances include the Kennedy Center and the Vienna Konzerthaus, as well as collaborations with violinists Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell, rock legend Jesse Colin Young, and conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, under whose baton Mr. Dugan opened this season as a soloist with the New World Symphony.
