Based upon the screenplay by Jerry Belson
Originally produced on Broadway by Lawrence Gordon, Richard M. Kagan and Sidney L. Shlenker.

Synopsis:

Who will be crowned the 1987 Young American Miss in Santa Rosa, California? Will it be just the typical American girl – thoughtful, bright, clean, and caring?
Smile shows us what really happens in this “Celebration of the Youth of America” event, advertised as a “non-profit that presents scholarships”. Of course, even though it’s not billed as a “beauty contest”, appearance counts plenty!
Smile is a fast-paced, raucous, and moving portrayal of the “behind the scenes” actions and motivations of the beauty pageant circuit. The story reveals conflicting values and pits artifice against authenticity. Who and what wins in the end?
NOTE: Parental discretion is advised for adult language and themes. Call the box office for details.
*An opening night reception prior to the show will be held on Friday, June 15th at 6:30 with “lite bites” to eat and fun!
