“Just as we used to do with Marvin in concert.” — Michael Berkowitz, Conductor, The Santa Rosa Symphony.
Santa Rosa, CA — On Oct 26, 2014, The Santa Rosa Symphony continued their 10th anniversary celebration of the POPS series, under the baton of Maestro Michael Berkowitz at the Wells Fargo Performing Arts Center in Santa Rosa, Ca. They celebrated the body of work of two musical legends: The Great Barbra Streisand and Composer Marvin Hamlisch.

Barbra Streisand and Marvin Hamlisch
Beginning with their first meeting on the 1964 Broadway production of Funny Girl, Marvin Hamlisch and Barbra Streisand were fast friends and immediate collaborators. From The Way We Were to conducting Barbra’s 1994 legendary comeback tour, right up until Marvin’s untimely passing in 2012, these two legends created some of the world’s most memorable musical moments

“Fantastic concert and it was wonderful conducting Marvin’s music and arrangements once again. Very emotional ending where we did the number ONE with a group of 16 young performers in full costume and choreography followed with IF YOU REALLY KNEW ME as an encore. Just as we used to do with Marvin in concert.”- Michael Berkowitz, Conductor, The Santa Rosa Symphony.
