To: Terre Blair Hamlisch
It was so wonderful to meet you at the NYC Cabaret Convention celebration of the Music of Marvin Hamlisch Oct 16!
Being asked by KT Sullivan to sing “The Way We Were” was such a thrill and an honor (and pretty scary) for me…especially knowing I was going on as Maureen McGovern’s understudy!
I am so touched and beyond grateful that you feel I did justice to Marvin’s song, a song I thought I would never even touch, since it was originally performed and recorded by my idol…Barbra Streisand.
I feel that singing is the reason I am on planet earth, and to know that I touched many people with my performance of “The Way We Were” on Friday night, is kind of mind blowing.
I can’t Thank You enough for your kind, inspirational and encouraging words to me…I will remember them forever!
With Love & Gratitude,
P.S. I’m so happy to know you, and wanted you to know that I was lucky enough to have been one of the 600 voices that sang at Marvin’s funeral at Temple Emanuel…What a beautiful service that was. I also wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss of your amazing husband. I only wish I had been lucky enough to have known him personally.
