New York, NY - The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra had a concert at Carnegie Hall on March 20th, 2014, as part of their U.S. tour.

During the concert, Maestro Zubin Mehta and the orchestra had a segment to celebrate Marvin Hamlisch, a good friend of The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Zubin Mehta.

I attended the ISRAEL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA concert at Carnegie Hall. Thank You, Maestro Zubin Mehta for programming “familiar” and “unfamiliar” repertoire together. I especially loved the performances of the music by ODEON PARTOS (Concertino for String Orchestra) and TCHAIKOVSKY (Symphony No. 4). The orchestra was also honoring my dear friend MARVIN HAMLISCH, who was a great friend and supporter of the IPO. Maestro Mehta performed A MARVIN HAMLISCH OVERTURE (music beautifully arranged and orchestrated by Torrie Zitto.) Wow! It was a spectacular performance. It was so well rehearsed and beautifully executed. The orchestra played with love, warmth, and attention to detail. Marvin would have been dancing in the isles. I surely was.”
