The Guest artists included Broadway soloists Donna McKechnie, Christiane Noll, and Doug LaBrecque. Ttey paid tribute to the talents of one of the greatest contributors to music over the last century, Composer Marvin Hamlisch (1944–2012) with Dr. Ronald Demkee Conducting.
Former Principal Pops Conductor of the Pittsburgh, Dallas, Seattle and Colorado Symphony, (among others), the late, great Marvin Hamlisch is an entertainment legend. He’s one of a dozen people to win an “EGOT” ( Emmy®, a Grammy®, an Oscar®, and a Tony®, ) and only him and Richard Rodgers won a Pulitzer Prize to make it a “PEGOT” and a pair of Golden Globes® to boot.
He won three Oscars in 1974 – two for the score for The Way We Were and the third for his adaptation of Scott Joplin for The Sting. This concert spans Hamlisch’s remarkable career, from his work on Woody Allen films to A Chorus Line to the score for Ordinary People.
