Letter from Maestro J. Ernest Green — Marvin Hamlisch, 3rd Anniversary

Dearest Terre,

I am thinking about you and Marvin today. I miss Marvin so much. I miss getting one of those short phone calls from him. I miss going to lunch and eating every dessert in the restaurant. I miss talking about baseball with him. I miss doing concerts with him. I miss the excitement of knowing I was going to be onstage with THE Marvin Hamlisch! I miss eating ice cream with him! I miss his laugh.

But mostly I just miss him. The way he would talk about something he had just seen or read. Or when he would play something for me that he was working on and then we would talk about it!! It was his love of life that filled every room he entered, and you couldn’t be around him and not be changed.

Terre, he changed my life. Not just the way I do music but the way I look at the world around me — and made me be a better person!!

You and Marvin will be in my heart forever!!

All my love,

E xoxo ????????????????
