June 2nd — Marvin Hamlisch’s Birthday. Thank you San Francisco!

From Terre Blair — Hamlisch

Venetian Room - SF

First , I would like to thank Tom Klein and the Fairmont San Francisco, Marilyn Levinson, Bay Area Cabaret and the San Francisco Hotel, the Venetian Room, and the San Francisco community for celebrating and honoring Marvin on his birthday. The Venetian room and the Fairmont held a very special place in Marvin’s heart with its illustrious history and years of capturing moments of exhilarating entertainment and joy. Marvin was honored to be a part of such a legacy.

Marvin’s birthday was very important to him. He loved to celebrate it. So much he would walk up to strangers and after giving them the date, inform them of his shirt size!!!!! Lol!

I am, as I’m sure Marvin Hamlisch would be, very grateful to you for acknowledging him on this very special day. He would want your spirits to soar and your mood transformed to joy as you listen to his exquisite melodies tonight. He brought music and joy to this world! Thank you for extending his legacy in remembering him tonight!

We are applauding with great gusto here in New York for you in San Francisco!! Happy birthday Marvin!!!

Happy birthday honey!! I love you very very very much!!!!

With much appreciation,

Mrs. Marvin Hamlisch

The world will remember Marvin for his brilliant musical accomplishments, from “A Chorus Line” to “The Way We Were,” and so many others, but when I think of him now, it was his brilliantly quick mind, his generosity, and delicious sense of humor that made him a delight to be around. He was a true musical genius, but above all that, he was a beautiful human being. I will truly miss him.” Barbra Streisand
